COGI: international congress production and exhibition support

Long-term audiovisual partnership, international congress production, hybrid event technology, exhibition stand construction and logistics for COGI, the global congress on Controversies in Obstetrics, Gynecology and Infertility.

Project overview

Since 2013, Bano has supported COGI, the international congress on Controversies in Obstetrics, Gynecology and Infertility. What started as technical event support has developed into a long-term turnkey partnership for congress AV, hybrid event solutions, exhibition support and international logistics.

Bano supports COGI across different countries, venues and formats. From plenary rooms and breakout sessions to online streaming, exhibitor facilities, stand construction and hybrid congress environments, Bano acts as a trusted technical partner behind the scenes.

  • Client: COGI, Controversies in Obstetrics, Gynecology and Infertility
  • Sector: International medical congresses
  • Partnership since: 2013
  • Project type: International congress production, AV production, hybrid events and exhibition support
  • Bano role: Technical production, AV, streaming, hybrid event support, exhibition stand construction, exhibitor services, logistics and on-site crew

The challenge

COGI is an international medical congress with a worldwide audience of specialists, speakers, exhibitors and partners. Each edition takes place in a different city, venue and technical environment. This requires a production partner that can deliver a consistent congress experience, even when local conditions change.

The challenge is not only to provide audiovisual technology. Bano needs to support the full technical flow of the congress: plenary sessions, breakout rooms, speaker support, online viewers, exhibitors, stand construction, hybrid formats and international transport.

For a medical congress, reliability is essential. Presentations must run smoothly, speakers need support, online participants need stable access and exhibitors need a professional environment to present their products and services.

International congress locations

Over the years, Bano has followed COGI to leading congress cities and venues around the world. This international continuity is one of the strongest parts of the partnership.

  • Vienna, Austria: Hilton Vienna Park, including editions in 2013, 2017 and 2023
  • Paris, France: Paris Marriott Rive Gauche, including editions in 2014 and 2019
  • London, United Kingdom: Queen Elizabeth II Centre, 2018
  • Berlin, Germany: Seminaris Campus Hotel, 2021
  • Amsterdam, the Netherlands: Beurs van Berlage in 2016 and Postillion Hotel & Convention Centre in 2022
  • Lisbon, Portugal: Lisbon Congress Centre, 2024
  • Guilin, China: Shangri-La Hotel, 2015, where Bano provided technical support through an on-site technician

The solution

Bano supports COGI with a turnkey technical approach. The setup changes per edition, but the goal remains the same: a professional congress environment that works for speakers, visitors, exhibitors and online audiences.

This includes audiovisual production for plenary sessions and breakout rooms, video graphics operation, technical crew on location, streaming and hybrid event technology, exhibition stand construction and support for exhibitors.

By combining congress AV, stand construction, online event technology and logistics, Bano helps COGI keep a consistent level of quality across different countries and venues.

Hybrid congress production and streaming

During the pandemic in 2020, Bano helped facilitate the congress as a fully online event from its own studios in Groningen. This marked an important step in the development of COGI as a hybrid and online congress format.

Since then, Bano has continued to support more complex hybrid congress solutions. For the Amsterdam edition in 2022, this included hybrid event technology, E-posters and virtual stages, allowing the congress to connect physical and online audiences.

This experience is highly relevant for medical congresses, where international speakers, remote participants and on-demand content often play an important role.

AV production for plenary sessions and breakout rooms

Bano provides technical direction and audiovisual support for the main congress rooms and breakout sessions. This includes presentation technology, video operation, audio support, technical coordination and on-site troubleshooting.

Video graphics operators and technical crew help ensure that presentations, speaker content, schedules and transitions run smoothly throughout the programme.

Exhibition stand construction and exhibitor support

In addition to congress AV, Bano supports the exhibition area around COGI. This includes the design and realisation of exhibition stands for international partners, including companies such as Fotona and FINOX AG / Gedeon Richter.

Bano often uses the modular Octanorm system for exhibition stands. This creates a professional and consistent look, while also making the stands practical to transport, build and reuse across different congress locations.

Online exhibitor portal

To make exhibitor services easier to manage, Bano supports COGI with an online exhibitor portal through Banoshop. Exhibitors can order facilities such as iPads, furniture and audiovisual equipment directly through the portal.

This helps streamline the preparation process and gives exhibitors a clearer way to arrange the facilities they need for the congress.

International logistics and project management

Bano manages the transport of congress materials, AV equipment and exhibition elements from the Netherlands to international congress venues. This requires careful preparation, clear planning and a strong understanding of how each venue works.

Commercial and operational coordination is often led by Adrian Luijkx and Pim Duiverman, translating the wishes of the congress organisation into a practical technical plan for each edition.

The result

Through the long-term partnership, Bano has become an extension of the COGI organisation. The team understands the format, the expectations, the technical requirements and the importance of consistency across countries and time zones.

The result is a reliable international congress production model in which AV, hybrid technology, exhibition support, logistics and on-site crew work together. This case demonstrates Bano’s ability to support medical congresses worldwide with both technical depth and practical execution.

Why this project is relevant

This case is relevant for international congress organisers, medical associations, event agencies and healthcare companies looking for a technical production partner that can travel with the event across Europe and beyond.

COGI shows how Bano combines congress AV, hybrid production, exhibition stand construction, streaming, exhibitor services and international logistics into one long-term support model.
